During the week of April 24 to May 1, 2006, 10 porta-porters, each assigned a mobile network unit, traverse Broadway Market’s PORTA wifi zone. The porta-pack, a compact pack carrying a flashcard drive, a webcam, an LCD terminal with 4 click buttons and a speaker, is a DIY wifi network unit. The porta-pack documents, transmits and archives the community in transition with porta-porters on the go. An inter-communication module is developed with porta-porters . 3 urgency sensors triggered by real life events on Broadway Market further command collective action among the porta-porters. On view at Broadway market’s are PORTA2030 documents and livecast of porta-porters’ performative exercise.
